Our glass miniature figures are particularly characterized by their naturalness and high level of detail. The individual figures are made entirely by hand, without the use of molds. Thin, differently colored glass rods made of soft glass are heated over a flame until the glass begins to soften and flow. The artist must precisely control the temperature through the proximity and intensity of the flame so that the glass does not become too hard or too liquid. In several steps, the basic body is first built up, followed by the other components and details of the figure. For the pupils of the eyes, for example, a very thin, black glass rod is heated until its tip becomes almost liquid. Then the now very soft glass rod is briefly placed on the previously applied white retina and then quickly pulled upwards. This creates a tiny glass point that forms the pupil. Each artist creates only a few models, sometimes only one, as it takes a very long time to produce these small works of art virtually freehand. Our glass miniatures are lovingly crafted in a small glass workshop in Vietnam by a select group of people. SIKORA Christmas World.
The educational value of our glass miniatures: We repeatedly observe how children, in particular, enjoy our glass miniatures. They discover details and shapes that we as adults (unfortunately) often no longer notice. Children repeatedly delight in the small, lovingly designed companions and are thrilled by each new figure. We believe that moments of pausing, observing, and discovering small, seemingly unimportant things can be very valuable and therefore believe that our miniatures can represent a good, calm, and lasting alternative to other forms of play, especially for children. And certainly, many adults can also enjoy the numerous details and the extraordinary design of our glass figures.
