Using a curved brush, our glass spheres are individually hand-painted from the inside through the small hole at the top. This ancient tradition of inside glass painting originates from the Hebei province in northern China, where farming families have been elaborately painting the inside of small snuff bottles for centuries. Even today, our inside-painted spheres are primarily painted in home workshops during the winter months, when the harvest is scarce, by family members. Each artist creates only a few motifs, which she then masters perfectly and paints almost flawlessly. We have now transformed this tradition into the round glass spheres popular with Europeans, which are ideal as unusual Christmas tree ornaments or as a small, special gift. These small works of art are also popular objects among collectors. As with reverse glass painting, the outlines are first applied with dark colors, and then these are painted in with semi-transparent or opaque colors from light to dark, i.e., in the exact opposite order to ordinary painting. Because the paint is applied from the inside, the glass sphere retains its surface shine and the colors achieve a very special saturation and depth. Our glass spheres are available in many different motifs and two sizes with sphere diameters of 7.5 and 10 cm. Each individual sphere is stored in a fabric-covered box and comes with a certificate.
