Using a curved brush, our glass baubles are individually hand-painted from the inside through the small hole at the top. This ancient tradition of inside glass painting originates from the northern Chinese province of Hebei, where farming families have been painstakingly painting small snuff bottles from the inside for centuries. Even today, our inside-painted baubles are primarily hand-painted by family members at home during the lean winter months. Each artist creates only a few designs, which they then master perfectly and paint almost flawlessly. We have now transformed this tradition into the round glass baubles so popular with us Europeans, ideal as unique Christmas tree ornaments or as small, special gifts. These little works of art are also popular with collectors. As with reverse glass painting, the outlines are first applied with dark colors and then filled in with semi-transparent or opaque colors from light to dark – in the exact opposite order to conventional painting. The application of color from the inside allows the glass sphere to retain its surface luster, and the colors achieve a unique saturation and depth. Our glass spheres are available in many different designs and two sizes with diameters of 7.5 and 10 cm. Each sphere is individually packaged in a fabric-covered box and comes with a certificate.
